Todd Kelly

Todd Kelly was born and raised in Chicago and has been involved in sports his entire life. Kelly was a two sport all conference performer in high school in both basketball and track at St Martin De Porres. After high school Kelly played college basketball at both the D3 and D2 levels at Millikin university and East Central University respectively. After college Kelly went on to a career in higher education that has spanned two decades. Kelly primarily has worked in athletics, first  serving as an assistant coach at Keystone College where he helped the program go 46-11 during his two years with two conference championships. From there Kelly went on to be the head coach at Providence St Mel High school leading the program to the  2009 Chicago Prep Championship and a regional championship en route to winning coach of the year. Kelly then went on to North Central College where he helped the program win nearly 100 games during his five years en route to back to back conference championships, back to back sweet 16 appearances and an appearance in the 2013 final four.


Kelly then moved on the be the Head Coach at the Illinois Institute of Technology. After inheriting a team that won zero games the year prior to his arrival, Kelly struggled his first two years going 6-44. In his third season Kelly engineered the biggest turnaround in all of college basketball taking the team from 4 wins in 2015/16 to 23 wins in the 2016/17 season. Kelly went on to lead Illinois Tech to four consecutive post season appearances including the 2017 USCAA championship and an appearance in the 2018 NACC conference championship game. Kelly most recently served as the head coach at Dallas Christian College.



Even though Kelly has extensive experience in college athletics, he has experience in many other aspects of higher education. Kelly has worked in residence life, serving as the assistant director of residence life at Keystone College. Kelly also has extensive experience within student affairs having been in several roles from student discipline to student programming. In addition, Kelly has served as director of student athlete career services at Illinois Tech. Finally Kelly has extensive experience in both financial aid and admissions having worked in those departments at three different institutions.
